Wind Cooperative Development: A group of landowners in northern Phillips County are working directly with Bannister Capital Advisors, LLC. The area was chosen by the Bannister Capital Advisors as a reliable and marketable wind resource location ofr wind developers to consider in the north central and north eastern area of Phillips County. This area initially covered only portions of Glenwood, Greenwood, Walnut, and Freedom townships. Now has expanded to also include portions of Grant, Dayton, Crystal and Sumner. Although the process for this project is far from any tower being built, it is moving in a foward motion.
Majestic Community Theatre Facade Renovation Project: In 2009, Phillips County Economic Development, Discover Phillipsburg Main Street, the Morgan and Cole Foundations partnered with the Majestic Community Theatre board. This partnership was developed to plan and implement the needed facade renovations to this historic building in our downtown area. In December, a grant application was submitted to the Small Communities Improvement Program (SCIP), through the Kansas Department of Commerce. The requirements for this grant include a 40% match in volunteer labor and local donations. Once again, Phillipsburg and Phillips County heeded the call. The match was made. At this time, the community is waiting to hear the results of this application. If recieved, the facade renovation project for the Majestic Community Theatre will begin in Spring of 2010.
