- Ethanol Project -The ethanol project started in November 2002 with PCED researching the feasibility of such a project in our area. Upon doing preliminary studies, tours of plants, and networking with multiple industry specialists, it was concluded to proceed with an official feasibility study in April 2003.
- Phillips County Community Foundation - The development of a community foundation was started in the early spring of 2003. By October 2003, the Phillips County Community Foundation, Inc. (PCCF) had received its official notice of its determination by the I.R.S.
- Phillipsburg Assisted Living Project - The Phillips County Retirement Center board has been considering an assisted living compmultiple years. In July 2004, the director was approached by the PCRC board to consider assisting with this project. We have assisted with the review of possible financial avenues for the project and the processes by which to move forward on such a project in funding.
- Regional SRS Office Complex - The regional SRS office complex building negotiation was completed back in May 2004. After notices were sent out by the State of Kansas Administration office in October 2003, in regards to locating and determining a logical existing building for a regional office, PCED’s director sent a proposal for this office complex to be located in Phillipsburg with some options to consider.
- Solomon Valley Regional “Entrepreneurial Center” - Starting out as the Solomon Valley Regional Entrepreneurial Center, renamed the “EntrepreneuriCenter” (EC) in 2005, but pleasantly called the “E-Center” by individuals utilizing it, this project was originally developed by PCED. Once the PCDCF (a local community foundation) was authorized by the IRS, the funding and operation of the E-center was run separately from the economic development office.
- Wind Monitoring Equipment Installation - Wind development in Kansas has been chased at for many years. In 2002, PCED started focusing on ways to enhance our chances as a county to be more seriously looked at by wind developers. After holding a public meeting with an attendance around 100 residents of the region in the spring of 2003, it was apparent to the direction that there was a positive atmosphere to pursue such development from area residents.
