Southside Renovation In Phillipsburg
In 2007, the Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) worked on a community development project involving the revitalization of the south side of the Phillipsburg business district square. The area was in desperate need of repair or renovation for not only the appearance of the business district and town, but to the establishment of a new area of growth that would perpetuate the continued growth of our county as a regional business location. We have seen some dramatic leaps forward in activities and long-term initiatives for the county by multiple organizations, through the Discover Phillips County initiative. This downtown revitalization is an ambitious project. We applaud the PCCF’s commitment to acquire these properties and collaborate with other organizations to ultimately plan and design a new complex that would allow both retail and services businesses area for growth.
Phillips County Economic Development supports the Phillips County Community Foundation and its endeavors to acquire, demolish, renovate and rebuild the south side properties of the square in Phillipsburg referred to as the “PCCF South Side Revitalization Project”. We feel it is important to continue the momentum of this project for the best interest of community development and the progression of revitalization in the county. This project will be looked upon as one that will have added considerably to the county’s attributes of which attracts future residents, businesses and visitors.
The renovation on the Southside of the Square continues with the opening of Wenzl Drug’s new building and parking lot located to the west. The larger building added additional space for Rob and Stacy to provide durable medical equipment to our area, as well as a larger showroom for gift lines. In addition, this building has a drive - thru available for customers. The parking lot address the need for additional parking on the southside of the square.
